The following Anchorage area construction projects and events will cause traffic delays this week.

1) Anchorage July 4th Celebration (Downtown Area)

On Saturday, July 4th between 7:00 AM and 4:00 PM, drivers should expect multiple full road closures in the downtown area for the Anchorage July 4th Celebration. The following roads will be affected:

9th Ave. and 10th Ave. between C St. and P St. (full closure between 11:00 AM and 1:00 PM for parade route)

10th Ave. between L St. and E St. will be closed from 7:00 AM through 4:00 PM. for park strip activities.

The cross streets of A St, C St, E St, I St. and L St. between 9th Ave. and 10th Ave. will have APD-operated traffic control. Please follow officer instructions and/or use alternate routes.

To avoid delays during these times, drivers headed northbound into the downtown area should use A St. or Ingra St. Southbound traffic from downtown should use C St. or Gambell St.

2) Minnesota Drive Resurfacing - C St. to 13th Ave.

Expect nightly lane restrictions and short delays on Minnesota Dr. from C St. to 13th Ave. between 8:00 PM to 6:00 AM due to paving operations. Be alert to heavy equipment and construction workers on the roadway and shoulder.

No work is scheduled from Friday, July 3 through Sunday, July 5.

3) Lake Otis Pkwy. south of Huffman Rd.

Drivers should expect intermittent full road closures on Lake Otis Pkwy. south of Huffman Rd. for road improvements. Please follow appropriate detour routes for residential access.

4) E St. between W. 5th Ave. and W. 6th Ave.

Expect a full road closure on E St. between W. 5th Ave. and W. 6th Ave. for road and pedestrian improvements. Please follow appropriate detour routes. Drivers should also expect intermittent lane closures on W. 5th Ave. and W. 6th Ave. at E St. for road improvements.

5) Old Seward Hwy. between Brandon St. and O'Malley Rd.

FUTURE CLOSURE: East O'Malley Centre Dr. will be closed from Friday, July 10 at 8:00 PM through Monday, July 13 at 6:00 AM. Follow construction signs for detour routes. No work is scheduled for Friday, July 3 through Sunday, July 5.

Expect lane closures and delays on the Old Seward Hwy. from Klatt Rd. to Huffman Rd. between 8:00 AM and 6:00 PM, Monday through Saturday. Please use alternate routes to avoid delays.

Be alert to flaggers and changing traffic patterns. Please obey all traffic control devices and follow appropriate detour routes, when applicable.

6) W. 9th Ave. between A St. and Cordova St.

Drivers should expect intermittent lane closures on W. 9th Ave. between A St. and Cordova St. for utility work through Monday, July 6th. Please follow appropriate detour routes.

7) Independence Dr. between Sentry Dr. and Abbott Rd.

Drivers should expect intermittent full road closures on Independence Dr. between Sentry Dr. and Abbott Rd. for road improvement work. Please follow appropriate detour routes and drive with caution.

8) F St. between W. 6th Ave. and W. 7th Ave.

Drivers should expect a full road closure on F St. between W. 6th Ave. and W. 7th Ave. for road and pedestrian improvements. Please follow appropriate detour routes.

9) Old Glenn Hwy. between West Lake Ridge Dr. to South Birchwood Loop Rd.

Beginning Wednesday, July 1 at 8:00 AM through Thursday, July 2 at 6:00 AM, the Old Glenn Hwy. will be closed from Athanasius St. to South Birchwood Loop Rd. Local traffic will have access.

No work is scheduled from Friday, July 3 to Sunday, July 5.

Drivers should expect intermittent lane restrictions and short delays on the Old Glenn Hwy., from East Lake Ridge Dr. to South Birchwood Loop Rd., between 8:00 AM and 6:00 PM, Monday through Friday and from 7:00 AM through 7:00 PM on Saturday. Be alert to flagging operations when traveling through this area.

10) Lore Rd. at Winchester St.

Drivers should expect a full road closure at the intersection of Lore Rd. and Winchester St. for road reconstruction. Please follow appropriate detour routes. Residents will maintain access.
